How we rate casino sites

Licences checked on the UKGC registerUpdated First published

A rating here is an order, not a verdict on how much fun a site is. It covers 17 operators licensed to take players in Great Britain and sits across 382 pages. Every figure comes from one of two places: the licence entry on the public register, or the operator's own published terms. Below is the order we use, the 5 facts we publish for almost every site in the pool, and what we do not do.

The checks behind a rating

Five facts decide the order, and each one has a source you can open yourself. Where a source says nothing, the field stays empty: a blank is information, a guess is not.

1. The licence, on the public register

The Gambling Act 2005 makes it an offence to offer remote gambling to someone in Great Britain without a licence from the UK Gambling Commission. So the first check is the operator's domain in the register's own download: Active or White Label means the licence covers that site, Inactive means the entry is dead and the site leaves the rating. The company we name as the licence holder is the one in the register, which is often not the trading name on the homepage. The register is public — UK Gambling Commission public register.

2. The welcome offer, as the operator publishes it

The headline figure is taken from the operator's own terms page or cashier page, not from another portal. British sites answer differently depending on where the request comes from, and when an operator's GB page does not answer at all, the offer is left blank instead of being filled in from a third party.

3. The wagering requirement

Since 19 January 2026, social responsibility code provision 5.1.1 of the licence conditions caps wagering on a bonus at a GB-licensed site at 10x. A 35x or 200x figure on a page about a British site is therefore an old term rather than a current one, and the same provision bans offers that mix casino and betting in one promotion. Figures that have not been rechecked against the operator's current terms are not printed as if they had.

4. The qualifying deposit

The minimum that unlocks the offer, with the currency the operator uses. This is the number players most often learn after paying, so it stands in the table next to the headline rather than in the small print below it.

5. What the terms leave unsaid

Withdrawal limits, expiry windows and game weighting are published by some operators and left out by others. What a site leaves out is recorded, and a site that publishes less of it does not rank above one that publishes more.

Then we rate the site, and the order you see on the page is that rating.

What we do not do

  • We do not gamble for money on the sites we cover. There are no deposits, no withdrawals and no session results behind these pages, and none are published as if there were.
  • There is no panel of named testers here. Pages are written by the editorial team, and the author in the structured data on every page is the organisation, not a person.
  • No place in a rating is for sale. The order is computed from the facts above, and a commercial agreement does not enter it.
  • We do not copy a bonus figure from another review site. If it is not on the operator's own page, it is not on ours.
  • We do not list sites that hold no GB licence, and we do not explain how to reach one.
  • We do not print a total we cannot count. Every number on this site, down to the page count in the footer, is counted from our own pages.

How this site is paid for

Some of the outbound links here earn a commission when a reader opens an account. It is the same for every site in the pool, it never buys a position, and it does not change the figures above: operators that pay nothing sit in the same tables as operators that pay. Where a rating would be different without the commission, the commission is what we would drop.

When a page changes

Each page carries the date it was last checked. When a register entry turns Inactive the site leaves the ratings; when an offer is withdrawn the row is emptied rather than left warm; when a term changes, the page and its date move together. A date that has not moved means the check found nothing new.

Found a wrong figure?

Tell us and we will check the operator's page again. Write to editors@greenbet.biz, or use the contact page. A figure we cannot confirm at the source comes off the site.
